It looks like Ariana Grande is getting into character. The grammy award-winning singer has been in the UK rehearsing for her role as Glinda The Good Witch in the upcoming Wicked movie since summer. Ari announced her involvement in the film, alongside Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, back in November of last year, and fans have been gagging to get an update ever since. The live-action movie isn't set to be released until Christmas 2024, so we've got a while to wait, but to tide us over, Ari's shared some teasers from behind the scenes with an Instagram series showing her and Cynthia getting prepped in a dance studio. The sixth slide shows they've even chosen Miu Miu ballet slippers that match their characters. Ariana wore a silky pink pair, while Cynthia teamed her jet black slippers with wicked witch green socks.

That was back on 11th October, when Ariana appeared to still have her trademark brunette hair. And while so far, there's been no sight of Glinda's Swarovski-covered star wand, or petal tiered blue ballgown, Ari gave us a glimpse of what might be to come with a new post on 26 October captioned “new earrings”, which also coyly debuted a change in hair colour to good witch blonde, just in time for peak witch season: Halloween.

Obviously, fans didn't miss a beat. One follower commented “blondiana just shattered the internet,” while Ari's makeup artist, Ash Holm, wrote “glinda energy.” Song-writer Victoria Monet said “🫧she's arrived🥹,” complete with the bubble emoji – which fans will know, is Glinda's preferred method of travel. And Ariana's co-stars showed support too, with Cynthia commenting “Earrings are AMAZING!! 💚😏.” The earrings in question were a doubled-up pearl design that, likewise, have delicate glinda energy.
It's giving us an idea of what Ari's rendition of Glinda might look like. We imagine the singer will want to put her own spin on the role and switch out Glinda's tight ringlets for something a little more contemporary. So there's every chance she's using this time to channel her own version of the character in the run-up to filming, instead of heading straight for the Good Witch's trademark bright blonde curls.
Either way, we're loving the shade on Ariana and we doubt this will be the last we see of the singer with icier strands.
