With just this one fashion hack, Blake Lively has opened my eyes to a whole world of styling possibilities I never knew existed. How have I never thought to layer dresses before?
In a photo posted by The Great British Bake Off host Paul Hollywood after the actor’s visit to the iconic British tent, Lively is actually wearing two dresses at once. On bottom, it looks like Lively is wearing the white polka-dot dress from J. Crew that we’ve seen her in at least once before. Over that, she’s wearing the black polka-dot dress she layered over a skirt back in January, when she demonstrated on IG how to DIY your own maternity clothes, per InStyle.

Creative layers have always been a major feature of Lively’s style. In 2018, for instance, she was known to wear multiple jackets in coordinating patterns and colors at once. She also did the double-dress thing in 2016, wearing two blue Diane von Furstenberg dresses at once. And more recently, photos from the set of her upcoming film, It Ends With Us, show the layering queen wearing not one but two pairs of pants at the same time.
“I love design and I love fashion, and it’s a way to be creative,” she told WWD in a 2018 interview, explaining why she’s her own professional stylist. “In my job I get to be creative, but it’s over a period of time and so many other people are involved, whereas this is a beginning, middle, and end, and I get to be creative and there’s an end date in the near future.”
