This is a major style departure for Sofia in more ways than one.

Sofia Richie Grainge did not invent the concept of quiet luxury or stealth wealth, but she did inspire hordes of her TikTok followers (and possibly Kylie Jenner) to swap out much of their Y2K-throwback wardrobes for more timeless, elevated pieces. She's about to do the same for the side part, previously declared dead by Gen Z.

On June 14, the 24-year-old newlywed attended a Chanel dinner in Beverly Hills, LA wearing a look from the esteemed fashion house's spring-summer 2022 collection, complete with a keyhole cutout bodysuit with an oversized satin bow worn with a sheer pleated skirt with delicate embroidery and a subtle logo belt.

Nicole finished off the look with a pair of metallic silver wedges, a whimsical white ball bag, and a small collection of Van Cleef & Arpels bracelets, keeping her beauty look minimal with a light contour and rosy cheeks, as per usual. Less usual, however, was her departure from bridal whites in favour of this nearly head-to-toe black ensemble… Not to mention her deep side part.

In fact, it wasn’t the stealth wealth queen’s foray into the realm of see-through dressing and a darker colour palette that caught the attention of her 2.7 million Instagram followers. “Sophia Richie is wearing a side part again, so I’m going to wear a side part again,” one follower commented on Richie’s outfit reveal, set to “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, which samples the 1997 classic “Barbie Girl” by Aqua. “This is not a drill,” another user wrote. “Side parts are back in.”

The comments on her getting ready video, posted on 15 June, were similar. “Side part is back! Don’t talk to me, she did it y’all she brought it back,” a fan commented.

As a side-part girlie to my core, I must say, thank you for your service, Sofia Richie Grainge!
